A Beginner’s Guide To Walt Disney World

Are you thinking of taking the plunge and plan a trip to Walt Disney World? Just the thought can send shivers down some parent’s spines. The thought of spending money to stand in line an hour to see a Mouse? Many say no way and run the opposite direction.
Here are 7 tips to help ease your mind on the planning process –

1. Disney World is HUGE. It spreads out over 27,000 acres. It is a lot to take in- especially with young children. Pre-planning is a must to ensure you maximize your time on your vacation! Reservations must be made well in advance for many parties, restaurants, specials experiences, tours and more. More popular dining experiences (like eating at Cinderella’s Castle) book up lightening fast once time slots are opened!
2. Utilize the Fast Pass+ option! This allows you to schedule guaranteed arrival times to skip the long lines on more popular attractions, special viewing areas for fireworks, shows, character meetings, and more.
3. Go during the “off season” if you can. These are typically times children are in school. Between Back-to-School and Halloween is a GREAT time to go because Disney normally offers free dining plans. This is a huge savings!
4. Plan to stay at a Disney resort.  You get many perks your off-site friends will miss out on.  Some of these perks include unlimited use of Disney transportation to and from all Disney parks and resorts, Extra Magic Hours (extra morning or night park hours for resort guests only), and access to the Disney Dining Plan.
5. Speaking of the Disney Dining Plan…GET IT! It will definitely save you money especially if you plan to do signature or character dinings.  Plus, your dining reservations can be made well in advance of your trip!  That means you arrive knowing you’ve already snagged your must-do restaurants.
6. Be prepared to walk…A LOT.  Good walking shoes are a must!  There is nothing worse than blisters and sore feet after only your first day.
7. RELAX…there is a reason Disney is called the “Happiest Place on Earth”. That’s because it is!
You are guaranteed to have a good time and Cast Members will go out of their way to help you navigate the parks/resorts and answer questions. There is so much to see and do..don’t feel overwhelmed if you don’t see it all. You can always catch it next time!
…and there you have it! 7 sure fire ways to help ease those beginning stages of planning a Disney World trip. Using a Specialist in Disney Travel, like myself, can help with all the little details and reservations that will come after these biggies are decided!
Relax, and stay calm…you’re going to Disney!
